About this Edition:
We Tsinoys follow different sets of rules as dictated by our culture. Rules and rituals exist from pregnancy, to 1st birthdays, up until a person passes away. But the most colorful are the ones surrounding a wedding. I am not an expert, but through this website and the W@W-KanChiu eGroup, I learn everyday.
Since customs vary depending on the family’s status, interpretation, or even on which part of China their ancenstors came from; some items in this book may appear contradictory with what others practice. Ultimately, the couple and their respective families will be the ones to decide which tradition to follow.
This book is dedicated to my mom who taught me these traditions; to my daughter Kite whom I shall pass them on to; and to John, my husband, for his appreciation and respect of my heritage.
