Wedding Logos vs. Monograms
We read somewhere that wedding monograms (two-letter initials usually embossed in wed invites/envelopes) are loosing popularity in favor of the more trendy & personalized wedding logos. But what exactly is a wedding logo? It is a simple graphic design representing the soon-to-weds. The layout may include the couple's names, the wedding date, the theme or an simple illustration of an item/place that is particularly special to the bride & groom. To see some nice samples of wedding logos, check out Marry Monograms!

W@W Wedding Primer update!
Our 4th edition of The W@W Wedding Primer is scheduled to come this March. This year's edition includes features about the wedding color trends and auspicious wedding dates for 2006. A full chapter is dedicated about the appropriate wedding look for brides and grooms. For the first time, the handbook also included an article called "Legal Tender: The Law of Money in Marriage" which tackles the touchy and sensitive topic of pre-nuptial agreements. We will be handing FREE copies to all soon-to-weds visiting selected bridal events slated this year. The title will also be available in National Bookstore branches for P75. Don't fail to get a copy! =)

Finally, an eGroup for Suppliers!
Last Feb. 2, we soft-launched our discussion forum exclusively for wedding suppliers. It is called W@W-SDG (Suppliers' Discussion Group). We initially invited a few suppliers when we started and now we are extending the invitation to everyone who's already listed in the W@W Directory. The group is intended to be a venue where all wedding suppliers can exchange ideas, rant or rave about clients (W@Wies or not), or simply share useful info that may benefit fellow suppliers. It is also meant for us to know each other a little better. TO JOIN, simply visit wawsdg.weddingsatwork.com and click "Join this Group." Hope to see you there!

A Proposal Up, Up & Away!
(The Manila Times -Clark, Pampanga) Jason Tres Reyes wanted the moment when he asks his long-time sweetheart, January Eferia, to marry him to be memorable. He got his wish last Saturday, with a little help from friends. As hundreds of spectators on the ground cheered, Jason asked January to marry him aboard a hot-air balloon (photo courtesy of Anton Diaz' One Awesome Planet), hovering 40 feet above Clark in Pampanga . The event added a Valentine's touch to the three-day 10th Philippine International Hot-Air Balloon Fiesta in Clark.

Roses are read!

Have you ordered your flowers for tomorrow? How many? What color? Some say giving flowers speak a thousand words, but what do they say exactly? We want to share to all men out there the meaning and language of flowers so that they will be guided about their choice of blooms they'll give their significant others tomorrow. Have a romantic Valentine!

Spreading the 'Yabang!'
Since we have posted last month details about the Yabang Pinoy advocacy, a lot in our online community stood up and let themselves be counted as shouting proud Pinoys! A couple of W@Wies are even seriously considering getting abaca bands as tokens for their own weddings. That's would truly be of great help to the depressed communities which makes these braided abaca bands by hand. Why, even the pretty Bianca Gonzales (a housemate in the Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition) proudly displays her abaca band while inside the Big Brother House. So what are you waiting for? Maki-sabwat ka na sa 'kayabangan'!

Rita's 6th Wedding Symposium
Last week, we had a little chat with Rita Neri, pioneer & premire wedding planner in the country and author of the book "The Essential Wedding Workbook for the Filipina." She updated us about the upcoming Wedding Store's 6th Annual Symposium to be held at the Manila Polo Club on March 26. Aside from an interesting wedding planning talk from her, some of the resource speakers lined-up are: Penk Ching of Pastry Bin (cake), Dominic Velasco of Imacron (video), Patrick Uy (photography), Philip Santos of Forsc Ink (lights & sounds) and Rajo Laurel (gowns). Fee is P600/person. Soon-to-weds interested to attend must register prior to the event. For details, call 840-1897 or 893-0534 and let them know you heard it here. We think there's a 'little perk' for the first 20 registrants from W@W. ;)

2006: The Year of Weddings according to Feng Shui
The Chinese believes that the Year of the Dog is particularly a lucky year to get married in because it has, not just one, but two lichun (the beginning of the spring season). Read this New York Times article about the significance of lichun for weddings this year. Meanwhile, in our PrepTalk last Saturday, we shared with our readers the Auspicious Wedding Dates for 2006. If you've missed it, you can read the entire article here.

Pinay Brides @ PinoyExpats!
Ruth (ni Baste), a former W@Wie and now editor of PinoyExpats.org, invited abroad-based W@Wies to write about their experiences. Just published recently were the stories of Grace (ni Patrick) who wrote about planning a Philippine wedding from abroad via the internet; while Weng (ni Branden) talked about how she found her lifetime partner thru the web. Here's Weng's Not Your (normal) Ordinary Love and Grace's Surfing Down the Aisle. Check 'em out and be inspired!
