Lovie Dovies!

In one W@Wie wedding (Con & Nel's) held last Saturday, we heard an amusing thing happened. While Karl (of Fotogra Weddings) was shooting the newlyweds for their Dove Release, one landed on his head. Soonafter, the other followed. SWEEEET! Read Karl's personal account about this experience. The great thing is, the incident was captured on video by the Threelogy boys and it's now ready for everyone to see. (Note: No animals were harmed during the coverage of this weddiing. =)

Wedding Ad Series: BMW 3 Series Convertible

(For mature audience) The groom is running late and hurriedly drives himself to the church in his BMW 3 Series Convertible through the streets of Florence, Italy. On his way, four gorgeous hot women drop their lacy undergarments from their balcony which the man ducked away from and avoided successfully. Talk about focus and loyalty! The music scoring reminds of the movie "The Godfather" with the bride's dad looking like the mafia head. Watch the TVC here below and see the range of emotion the "dadfather" showed: from being displeased, then relieved, and finally, very suspicious.

Wedding Ad Series: Where's the Wedding Ring?

(For mature audience) This ad is about the wedding ring that the Best Man misplaced. We won't mention which product this is about since it would giveaway the plot. The good news here is that he was able to locate it eventually; the bad news is, the bride walked out crying. View the video below to find out why....

Wedding Ad Series: Slim-Fast Wedding Campaign

This set has been featured in numerous blogs before but its worth mentioning again. The Slim-Fast Wedding Campaign is a series of three print ads which featured unique caketoppers in humorous, one-of-a-kind 'poses'. The ad series came out in 2001 and won for its agency numerous accolades including the Clio (the advertising industry's Oscars). The campaign's tagline goes: "Need to loose a little wight before your wedding?"

Wedding Ad Series: Need a Lawyer?

Before the wedding month of June comes in full swing, we take a break to take a look at some funny wedding ads of various consumer products. We start of with this international ad for Yellow Pages. May this serve as a subliminal reminder that the deadline for ad submission for the 2006-07 edition of our Bride's Yellow Pages is on June 15 (how's that for a segue? hehehe). Anyway, you can view the ad below.

The Bayanihan Spirit - W@Wies' Style!

Since the W@Wies develop some form of sisterhood within the group, it's understandable that some would physically help the others during their actual wedding day. That's just how our community works. Take the W@Wie-Volunteer OTD (on-the-day) Coordinators for instance. Here's how they've described themselves: "...we were all budget-strapped W@Wies who had no moola left for wedding coordinators, even OTD lang. Think about it: the 12k-15k one can spend on OTD coordination would be better spent on giveaways, accessories or even as a nest egg for the newlyweds. Hindi naman sa barat, practical lang po." Get to know more about them.

Beware: Awards for Sale!

Would just like to issue this warning to all wedding suppliers to be suspicious of certain "consumer awards" sent by fax citing that your company is "No. 1" or has been accorded the "Seal of Excellence." There's usually a follow-up call asking if you accept the award, BUT "accepting" means you have to shell out some cash to claim the actual trophy. No, you're not buying the award (yeah right!). They'll say it's for advertising/marketing in their souvenir program and stuff. We should know. We almost fell to their ploy the fist time we got such a fax and even announced the "accolade" with everyone. Sheesh! There's a current thread in the W@Wsdg about this scam. You may also read the same experience of Veluz as posted in her blog.

To Have & To Hold: The Story Behind the Wedding Song

In our column last March, we mentioned that we haven't heard of any OPM wedding song in recent years. In the few weeks that came after, there was a buzz about this one particular wedding song which has been written especially for Raymart Santiago & Claudine Barretto's wedding by multi-awarded songwriter, Trina Belamide. Church experts tell brides: No backless gowns, please

(excerpt from Inquirer) BRIDES are again reminded to keep those backless and spaghetti strapped gowns out of the altar. Church experts who gathered last week to discuss the liturgy of marriage all agreed that before couples can say their "I do's," they would have to be reminded of some do's and don'ts in weddings. And this includes fashion. "The sacred character of the liturgy of marriage requires corresponding modesty in the attire of the bride and the bridal entourage and in the choice of songs, which should be liturgically appropriate," according to part of the five-point statement on the results of Liturgy Week meeting on April 24-27.
