There is an interesting article written by Geoff Daily profiling our very own, Jason Magbanua. What got us more excited was the quote about W@W in the article...

"In 2000, Magbanua decided to become a full-time wedding videographer. His move coincided with the birth of a site called weddingsatwork.com, which started as a Yahoo! group of brides-to-be and has since become the Philippines' version of TheKnot.com." Read the entire article here.

Bring back the World Record!

This year, CloseUp Lovapalooza is partnering with Manila Bulletin's About Weddings and W@W in reclaiming the Philippines' previous Guinness World Record of having the "Most Couples Kissing in One Event" which was snatched from us by Hungary in 2005. We'll keep you all updated in the coming days about this event. What's a 3D Photo Montage?

The usual photo montage is just a bunch of amateur childhood-to-couplehood photos that flips, turns, fades in & out to the flow of the music. That has been the format since. Even in the hands of a good editor, the video remains pretty predictable.

But just recently, Imacron did some pretty amazing stuff to it and made those simple pictures 'move' in a way that's more entertaining and engaging. It even tells a story! As you view it, you'd notice that the pictures weren't just scanned and displayed. It's obvious that whole lot of creativity, imagination and use of computer-generated effects went into the making the video to make the subject of the still photographs (usually the couple) move! In the sample video, we especially liked the part when Leo DiCaprio morphed into the groom-to-be so seamlessly (the screencap above is about halfway into that transition)! Watch the video below.

'To Have & To Hold' MP3 Download!

Last year, we've featured the story how this wedding song came to be. "To Have & To Hold" has practically been the soundtrack of Claudine Barretto & Raymart Santiago's wedding as composed by songwriter, Trina Belamide.

For those looking for a copy of that song, it is available for download at Fliptunes for only P40. per download. Released by Star Records, vocal rendition for said recording was done by Christian Bautista & Sitti. As of this writing, the song is poised at the No. 1 of the site's bestseller among the U.S. and U.K. markets and No. 3 here in the Philippines! Pinoy Feng Shui!

What does the lowly arinola (chamberpot) has to do with Pinoy weddings? As 'luck' would have it, we just might know the answer to that. For PrepTalk last Saturday, we have updated a list we have long compiled here in the site and added a few side comments to spice it up a bit. What we use to call Filipino Wedding Folklores & Superstitions, has just been updated with the tag: "Pinoy Feng Shui". Just read all about 'em here but take everything with a grain of salt. ;)

The subsequent pages tackle the kind of music, gowns and accessories that goes with this cultural wedding theme. Asian leaders gatecrash Philippine wedding

(news excerpt from Reuters) Having trouble with your wedding seating plan? Try accommodating 10 presidents and prime ministers, thousands of troops and scores of sniffer dogs.

Clarice Veloso thought her big day was in tatters when the annual ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) Summit was re-scheduled to Jan. 13 at the Shangri-La Mactan Hotel, also the venue for her wedding reception. But after digesting the unhappy news, the bride-to-be, who had the plush resort booked a year in advance, has decided to take it all in her stride. "Everyone has been very helpful and we decided to make the best of it," said the 30-year-old marketing manager, who is based in San Francisco.

Veloso said all 10 leaders were welcome to join the reception but she didn't fear getting swept off her feet, not even by the the presence of a King, Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. "I've already found my prince." (Read more about this wedding in this Inquirer newsitem).

New Year, New Ideas!

For last Saturday's edition, the editors and staff of Manila Bulletin's About Weddings ask our local wedding suppliers and compiled a trends forecast for weddings in 2007. Designer Tippi Ocampo dared that the bride wear something in color while the rest of the entourage wear white; Ghia & Jong of The Write Impression said that iridecent and metallic paper with gem colors like bronze, copper, opal, lapis lazuli, and ruby will be popular this year; Suarez Wedding Rings introduces their Custom Laser Engraving where soon-to-weds can have lengthy verses (wedding vows, love poems, or Bible verses) inscribed on the inside of their rings; and Teddy Manuel pushes for ‘Nupheur' styled bouquet, a new technique of arranging flowers like modern ikebana without the use of floral foam.

Worthwhile Weekends in 2007!

We encourage all soon-to-weds and couples seriously considering marriage make time to attend either the Catholic Engaged Encounter (CEE) or Discovery Weekend (DW) to help them prepare for the marriage and not just merely focus on the wedding. For CEE, their Marriage Preparation Program is slated on the weekend of Jan. 19 to 21. On the other hand, the DW has slated their first weekend on Feb. 2 to 4. J.Mag's the man!

EventDV.net -- the Event Videographer's Resource -- has just officially announced The EventDV25. The 25 people who made the list are considered the hottest and most influential videographers in the world. Making the year's prestigious All-Star Team is our very own Jason Magbanua -- the first time ever a Filipino has made it to the list! This recognition comes just after winning a WEVA Gold last August. EventDV25's Awarding Ceremonies will be held at Jacksonville, Florida on January 9. Aside from the plaque and the bragging rights, what makes the award extra cool is that each of the 25 videographers get to be printed in their own Trading Card! Here's how J.Mag's card looks like along with his 'stats.'

2007 Wedding Trends!
