About this Edition:
Since the inception of WeddingsAtWork.com back in 1999, we have been constantly in touch with soon-to-weds and came to know their concerns and sentiments about planning a wedding. As years went by, we have heard equally important concerns from the other people that make a wedding memorable - the suppliers! The stories and anecdotes they told with us were such eye-openers that we have long wanted to compile and share them.
And so, the concept for the 2007 edition of The W@W Wedding Primer was born. While this handbook still contains all the basic information from planning a wedding to packing for your honeymoon, we've made some minor tweaking to spice up its contents. We've sprinkled the pages with boxed quotes bearing insights from various wedding suppliers in the hope that soon-to-weds would get an idea how the people-- whom they work with to create the wedding for their dreams-- feel and think. In our past four editions, these little box spaces were reserved for handy tips from real brides & grooms. This minor change brought about some sense of needed reality in the dreamy world of weddings.
We've also added a Marriage Reality Check(list) as the very first chapter for this Primer to stress the fact that preparing for the marriage is ultimately more important than planning a wedding. As we focus less on wedding frou-frous and more on the wedding essentials, we got down and dirty by allotting pages for the legal matters and health concerns since these are subjects you wouldn't normally find anywhere else.
We send our gratitude for this year's contributors and advertisers for keeping the Primer relevant and updated throughout the years. Special mention goes to Clarice (of An Event to Remember) for always pitching to help in times when we felt too burned-out with the dizzying task of proofreading and editing.
It's been another year with over a hundred page worth of wedding tips and ideas. We hope you'll learn as much in reading your copy as we did when we read our first draft.
