Send your wedding wishes toward the sky!

Imagine a dozen or more paper lanterns glowing and floating the nighttime skies.

They’re called sky lanterns or fire lanterns and they are gaining popularity in weddings in the UK.  Those who tuned in the Judai & Ryan wedding TV special may have seen their guests releasing what seem like glowing paper balloons.  Now, people are asking what they were and were to get them.

Sky lanterns is a great addition, or alternative, to firework displays. Online, they’re available in sites like skylanterns.com.

Via the W@W-SDG (Suppliers’ Discussion Group), we learned that Design Manila have this available locally.  View this video for an actual launch of these lanterns in a recent event they’ve handled.

Light it up.  Make a wish. Then let it fly. :)

I had a destination wedding last february 18,2009 in Bantayan Island (Ian Jazon and Lisa Hussey) and we’re releasing 3 dozen of that…simply wonderful :)

I love balloon releases after church ceremonies. Until I attended a talk, hoested by an environmentalist.

She explained how balloons ruin our waters (since balloons are made of plastic) after its release from weddings or any other occassions. Plastics do not melt. Forever na sya. Maybe you think it does, pero what happens is they break lang into tiny pieces sa water. Kaya fishes & birds mistakenly see them as food. Kaya eventually, naiipon ung plastic sa tummy nila, tapos they die.
    (andaldal ko sorry :P)

anyway, i really hope everybody’s gonna use this na :) i love the idea na biodegradable sya, environment friendly! and yeah, its cheaper than fireworks!

I love this! I’ve always wanted fireworks for my wedding (for whenever that may be), but this just might be changing my mind. It’s beautiful.

I’ve been wanting this eversince ABS CBN had this on one of their Station ID releases, Christmas i guess. It was too late since we already got married last year. Probably on one of our anniversaries. =)

  6. Angie & Rob Says:

We wanted fireworks for our wedding reception but unfortunately the hotel regulations wouldn’t allow them so we were left disheartened and without a perfect ending to a perfect day.

We still wanted something to celebrate our special day so we spoke to the hotel and they allowed us to have sky lanterns as long as they were biodegradable.

I can personally recommend http://www.partylantern.co.uk for any wedding lanterns needed, they helped us out at the last minute and made our wedding one to remember. :)
