Rica Peralejo’s beach wedding
Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Another celebrity bride got married this January!  Rica Peralejo (Carla in real life) exchanged vows in a Christian wedding by the beach with her fiance, Joe Bonifacio — a Christian pastor. The ceremonies were held last Friday at Kawayan Cove in Nasugbu, Batangas.

The bride wore an empire-waist tube gown created for her by Rajo Laurel.  ABS-CBN, Rica’s home studio, has generously covered every aspect of her wedding, from her despedida de soltera (farewell to single-hood) to the wedding reception.

What we’re sharing here is  Joe & Rica’s onsite video (same-day edit) as seen by their wedding guests.  Snippets of the couple’s heartfelt vows are sprinkled throughout the video. Notice the Sand Ceremony towards the end of the video.

Special thanks to Jason Magbanua for sharing this with our readers.

Dubbed by local media as the “wedding of the year,” senator and vice-presidential hopeful Mar Roxas (52) married broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez (45) in a well-attended ceremony at the Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon City.

Their theme was appropriately Flipiniana.  The bride wore a serpentina-style piña gown by Pepito Albert sans the traditional bridal veil.  She walked down the aisle teary-eyed with her three brothers taking turns escorting her to the altar, as the groom awaited her.

The exchange of rings, the giving of the arrhae, and the exchange of vows were completely documented in this 10-minute video clip from ABS-CBN:

After the wedding ceremony, the newlyweds greeted hundreds of well-wishers who stayed and witnessed the entire proceedings on giant screens setup outside the church.  Afterwhich, the couple headed at the courtyard to partake of the simple merienda cena of local delicacies (pan de sal, puto, polvoron, etc) and refreshments.  Also seen was a white, flower-decked pedicab bearing the couple’s picture with the words “Bagong Kasal.”

The couple decided to call-off their grand reception banquet to be held at the Araneta Coliseum, and instead donated part of the P3-million budget to various charities and organizations which assist victims of the recent calamities that hit the country.

Here’s a visual narrative of what Mar-Korina’s reception would have been.

Barack Obama, 47, inspired a lot of people all over the world when he was elected the 44th president of the United States of America and being the very first African-American to do so.  Even his marriage is admired by the people who supported him.

He and his wife Michelle, 44, were married in October 3, 1992. In an interview, Michelle talked about her husband’s wedding vows: “Barack didn’t pledge riches, only a life that would be interesting. On that promise he’s delivered.

One observation says the greatest benefits of the Obama presidency is hidden in plain sight: the relationship between Michelle and Barack. They provide a great role model of a healthy relationship, at a time when such models are sorely needed.

Here are some articles about the Obamas’ relationship/marriage:

Rhianna’s “Take a Bow” or HappySlip’s “Take a Vow”?
Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Christine Gambito — or HappySlip in the blogosphere — may be the only Filipina (so far) to become a YouTube celebrity.  Her video clips got so famous that one even got nominated for the 2006 YouTube Video Awards for Best Comedy and she has since been appointed as an ambassador for Philippine tourism by the DOT.

We want to share with you this recent episode where HappySlip reworded, sung and turned this Rihanna’s angsty and sarcastic R&B ditty into a beautiful wedding love song. It’s funny as it is romantic. It’s virtually a study in contrast of what lyrics do to the general feel of a song without changing its melody. :)

Read the depth of the new lyrics below.

Take a Bow Vow
by: HappySlip

You stand before me right now
Telling me all your vows
In front of God and our friends
I’ll stay with you ’til the end
I pledge my life

After all that I put you through
You have shown your love that is true

And this is what I know
You are not self seeking
It’s your humble heart
That always thinks of others
You are worth the wait
Noble man of honor
I stand before you now
and I accept your vows

For better, for worse
For richer, for poorer
In sickness, and in health
Oh, I am yours

I stand before you now….
and I accept your vows….

a 1026 countdown: THE DAY! - an invite to witness a wedding vow renewal
Sunday, October 26th, 2008

After blogging for nine straight days, mostly about what happened ten years ago during our wedding; I’ve chosen to devote TODAY to reflect about my being husband to my wife. Afterall, our marriage is far more important than how our wedding was.

So now, I’ve decided to renew my wedding vows to Benz.  And since I want to gather as many people to witness it as possible, ballooning guestlist will not be of a primary concern in this situation.  Luckily, the chosen venue would be able to accommodate all of you who care enough to share the significance of what TODAY essentially means to us.

This serves as your invitation.

P.S.  Don’t forget to RSVP! hehehe… ;)
