Announcing the Top 10 Wedding Suppliers of 2011!
Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

top10-2011.jpgThe W@Wies have spoken. A total of 175 wedding suppliers were nominated. Each vote tallied and tabulated.  Two suppliers were tied at the tenth spot so there are 11 names in this year’s lineup.

Emerging at the Top 10 are two photographers, two caterers, two florists/stylists, a gown designer, a makeup artist, a videographer, a cake maker, and a wedding emcee. Among all of them, six were previous nominees in the past W@Wie Awards, while the other five are first-timers in the magic circle.

Without further ado, here are the Top 10 Wedding Suppliers for The 2011 W@Wie Awards (in alphabetical order):

As of today, our Top 10 are all on equal footing as the W@Wies vote anew to determine our Top 5, and ultimately, the 2011 Supplier of the Year. Winners will be formally announced during the W@W Christmas Party & Awards Night to be held on November 25 (Friday) at 1Esplanade (SM Central Business Park Seaside cor. Bay Boulevard, Pasay City) through the kindness of Josiah’s Catering.

Cheers to our Top 10! :)

01 Threelogy - W@W Chat

Welcome to the pilot episode of W@W Chat - The WeddingsAtWork.com Podcast!

wawpodcast.jpg

What’s a podcast?  Basically it’s talk radio on the internet except that the audio content is downloaded instead of streamed live.

Why a podcast?  Benz is a fan of travel podcasts.  She’s one person who has kept her classic iPod for such contents while the one in her phone remain underutilized.  For my part, I (with my neighbor and scooter buddy, Mark Laccay) conceptualized and hosted Pinoy Scooter Podcast (about scooter riding in the Philippines).  It’s actually thru Mark’s technical assistance that we were finally able to push trough with W@W’s very own podcast.

about this podcast:  From the get-go, Benz & I wanted the show’s feel to be very casual.  No set questions nor cue cards.  More like the way we’d chat with friends, say, over coffee.  Listening to an episode would feel like eavesdropping to other people’s conversation, only with consent. ;)You may listen to on your computer by clicking ? (play) in the embedded audio player below.  You may also right-click this link to save the MP3 and put it in your iPod. You may also subscribe to W@W Chat via iTunes to automatically download our latest episodes . :)

about this episode: Since it’s our first time, Benz & I thought of inviting someone whom we are both very comfortable with as our guest. A willing guinea pig if you may.  Since we’ve known the partners in Threelogy Video (Bong, CJ & Jon) way before we were all in the wedding industry, they were the most obvious choice. This was recorded in our house so our apologies for any ambient noise you may hear (i.e. our baby crying. hehe) while we were all chatting.  That’s how casual it gets! ;)

We hope you enjoy our very first episode. Happy listening! :)

What to expect in W@W VideoFest?
Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

It’s the second time that we are holding the W@W VideoFest.  The first was back in 2009 as we celebrated W@W’s 10th anniversary.  This year, the event spotlights the decade-long career of arguably the country’s most prolific wedding supplier.

jmag-videofest2011.jpg

W@W VideoFest presents BIO: Jason Magbanua.

But instead of seeing the works of JMag, what will be shown are docus about the videographer’s life and career.  The participating videographers in this event were personally handpicked by Jason himself.   Chosen were those whose career has been influenced and/or helped by Jason himself while they were still starting in the videography business: Ian Cruz, John Marvi de Guzman of CinemaWorks, Bob Nicolas, Threelogy, and Mayad Studios.

Below are aswers to some FAQs about the event:

Q. Is the event for free?

A. Yes this event is by invitation and guests come in for free.  As of this writing, the 7:30 screening on March 15 is already at SRO capacity.  We have just decided to opened another screening at 9PM.  For those still interested to get invites, kindly email wawvideofest@gmail.com with the name of attendees.

Q. Should I dress up for the event?

A. You surely can but it is not required.  While other guests are coming from work in their office getup, some wedding suppliers are likely to dress-up for the event much like attending a red-carpet premier. Either way is okay really.  But of course, a snapshot in our paparazzi wall at Cinema 4’s lobby will be nice when you’re dressed up. Oh, and Baicapture will setup a photobooth there as your souvenir to all the guests.

Q. Will we see the best works of Jason Magbanua in the event?

A. Sorry, but no.  What will be shown are works of other videographers (listed above) about the life and career of Jason Magbanua.

Q. Should we bring the invites we received in the mail to enter the cinema?

A. No need.  Just give your name when you approach registration table at the lobby of Cinema 4.  The staff of EventsExperts, who’s managing the event for us will be on hand to assist you. (By the way, the lovely invites were especially made for us by Printsonalities.  Thank you very much! :)

Q. Who did the movie posters?

MangoRed did the shoot and layout for the posters. Aside from the one of JMag as seen a above, he made five more layouts each featuring the five videographers whose work will be shown during the event.  You may see them all here. Don’t forget to checkout these posters in the backlit display along the Rockwell’s Cinama 4 lobby.

Q. Do we get a free popcorn or something?

A. Munchies are available at the cinema lobby.  Feel free to order. KKB. :)

2011-metalrabbit.jpgWe welcome the Year of the Metal Rabbit with our annual list of auspicious dates for weddings.

With the recent confusion regarding the “addition” of a new sign (Ophiuchus) in the Western Zodiac, it’s comforting to know that the Chinese Zodiac remains unchanged.

If you have already chosen a wedding date and it doesn’t appear in our list, don’t fret! The ‘good’ dates indicated below are meant as general guide only. Weekend dates are in red so they are easier to spot.

Although these dates are based on tung shu (Chinese Almanac) and appeared in the list from at least three different sources, we do not claim that we have the final say on the matter.

We advise soon-to-weds who value feng shui to consult with a professional and trusted feng shui master by giving each of their birth dates and exact birth time (sometimes even birth information of the parents from both sides) for a more accurate analysis.

See our list of Auspicious Wedding Dates for 2011.
